Founded in 1991, eMedia Networks (EMM) is a Vancouver, British Columbia-based company operating in the business-to-business marketplace. EMM supplies to an impressive and growing list of subscribers a program of customized foreground music, delivered via the Internet and other distribution channels. EMM has a national accounts sales team that markets its services to retail and restaurant chains, and numerous other types of businesses.

Mission Statement

EMM's mission statement is to be the leader in using Internet and web-based applications to deliver premium quality custom foreground business music. EMM's goal is to gain market share and achieve long-term profitability by continuously improving the quality of its products and services. EMM intends to pursue strategic relationships, acquisitions and joint ventures in order to: (i) increase the quality of its service; (ii) widen its sales channels; and (iii) achieve certain economies of scale.

Foreground music, consisting principally of CD quality original artist recordings, is most commonly used in public areas, such as restaurants and retail establishments, to enhance and define a client's brand image and as a sales enhancement tool.

Research into the effects of music on human behaviour in retail environments has shown that certain types of music may induce consumers to purchase more and may help the retailer in its efforts to project a particular image of a store. This research has also shown that certain types of music in other business environments may reduce employee stress and improve worker performance by counteracting the fatigue cycles that affect workers, particularly those involved in repetitive work.
